Semejante means 'similar' (son muy semejantes — they are very similar), but before a noun it often intensifies, meaning 'such a' (¡semejante cosa! — such a thing!). It is slightly more formal than parecido; the noun semejante means 'fellow human being' (nuestros semejantes).
