Retribuido is the past participle of retribuir ('to remunerate, to pay in return') and commonly appears in labour and employment contexts: trabajo retribuido ('paid work') versus trabajo no retribuido ('unpaid work'). It is more formal than pagado and emphasises compensation in exchange for a service rendered. The feminine form is retribuida.
