Retina is the light-sensitive layer at the back of the eye that converts light into neural signals. Common conditions include desprendimiento de retina (retinal detachment), a medical emergency. The adjective is retiniano (retinal). Note the initial r is pronounced as a strong trill in Spanish — the same as rr — because it is word-initial.
