Usage Note
Resultante is primarily used in technical and scientific writing to describe something that arises as a consequence: la fuerza resultante ('the resultant force' in physics). In physics it can also function as a noun (la resultante — 'the resultant vector'). In general prose it is more formal than resultado and overlaps with derivado or consiguiente.
