Usage Note
Resultar links a subject to an outcome and is typically followed by an adjective or que: resultó imposible ('it turned out to be impossible'), resultó que nadie sabía ('it turned out nobody knew'). It is NOT a direct synonym of resultar en ('to result in'), which requires the preposition en. The related noun is resultado (result).
