Rehuir means to actively avoid or shy away from someone or something — stronger than evitar in implying deliberate evasion. It is an irregular verb: the diphthong shifts in stressed syllables (rehúyo, rehúyes). It commonly takes a direct object: rehuir la confrontación, rehuir la mirada.
