referido

aforementioned

adjective rreh-feh-REE-doh Rare

Also means

referred to

Usage Note

Referido is used in formal writing to point back to something already mentioned: el referido documento (the aforementioned document). It is the past participle of referir used as an attributive adjective. In legal and administrative Spanish it is very common as a neat substitute for mencionado or citado. In conversational Spanish it would sound oddly stiff; learners should reserve it for written registers.

Examples

"El referido informe fue aprobado por unanimidad."

Natural Translation

The aforementioned report was approved unanimously.
