Usage Note

Absolutamente is used for strong affirmation or total negation: absolutamente sí or absolutamente nada (absolutely nothing). In colloquial speech it often stands alone as a one-word emphatic reply meaning 'absolutely!'. It is considered more emphatic than totalmente or completamente and is common in both written and spoken registers.
