Usage Note
Recogir is a non-standard spelling; the correct infinitive is recoger. In speech and informal writing it occasionally surfaces by analogy with elegir, exigir, and other -gir verbs, but edited Spanish always uses recoger. The yo-form recojo has the expected orthographic g→j shift.
