Reafirmar combines re- (again) and afirmar (to affirm) and is used for strengthening or restating a previously held position, commitment, or identity. It often appears in political discourse: reafirmar su compromiso (to reaffirm one's commitment). The reflexive reafirmarse en means to become more certain or confident in a belief.
