reabrir

to reopen

verb rreh-ah-BREER Rare

Usage Note

Reabrir follows the irregular conjugation of abrir — its past participle is reabierto, not the regular reabrido. It is used for physical reopening (a shop, border, wound) and figurative reopening (a case, negotiations, debate). The opening re-a- is pronounced as two distinct vowels.

Examples

"El gobierno decidió reabrir las fronteras."

Natural Translation

The government decided to reopen the borders.
