Usage Note

Qué carries a written accent to distinguish it from the relative conjunction que (that/which). In exclamations it expresses degree — ¡Qué bonito! ('How pretty!') — while in questions it asks for identification. It also combines with nouns: ¿Qué hora es? ('What time is it?').
