Usage Note
Quebrado is the past participle of quebrar used as an adjective. In finance, estar quebrado or declararse quebrado means 'to be bankrupt' — distinct from the informal estar sin dinero ('to be broke'). In some Latin American countries it also describes a person as 'broke' in everyday speech.
