pésimo
terrible; dreadful
adjective PEH-see-moh Rare
Origin: From Latin pessimus, the superlative of malus (bad).
Usage Note
Pésimo is the absolute superlative of malo — it means 'as bad as it can get'. The comparative of malo is peor (worse) and the relative superlative is el peor (the worst), but pésimo conveys an absolute, emphatic badness: un servicio pésimo (terrible service). It agrees in gender and number: pésimo/a/os/as. A less emphatic synonym is muy malo.
Examples
"El servicio del restaurante fue pésimo anoche."
Natural Translation
The restaurant's service was terrible last night.
