Prohibido is the past participle of prohibir used as an adjective and appears on signs (prohibido fumar = no smoking, prohibido el paso = no entry). Note that prohibir has a written accent: prohíbo, prohíbes in the present tense due to the stress shifting to the i. The feminine form is prohibida.
