presumir
to boast
verb preh-soo-MEER Rare
Origin: from Latin praesumere, 'to take beforehand'
Also means
to presume
Usage Note
Presumir means to show off or brag (presumir de inteligente — to brag about being clever). In some Latin American regions, particularly Mexico, it also means to court or flirt with someone. The false-friend risk is high: English 'presume' means to assume, but Spanish presumir almost never carries that meaning — use suponer or dar por sentado instead.
Examples
"Siempre presume de sus notas en clase."
Natural Translation
He always boasts about his grades in class.
