Usage Note
Preocupante is the present-participial adjective of preocupar and is invariable for gender — una situación preocupante, un dato preocupante. It is stronger than inquietante (unsettling) but milder than alarmante (alarming). The reflexive preocuparse por means 'to worry about', so 'the situation is worrying' renders as la situación es preocupante, not a reflexive construction.
Examples
"La situación económica es muy preocupante."
Natural Translation
The economic situation is very worrying.
