Usage Note
Poderoso describes something with great power, strength, or influence — a ruler, country, argument, or drug. The Spanish proverb poderoso caballero es don Dinero ('Sir Money is a mighty lord', Quevedo) is widely known. The feminine form is poderosa; the noun is poderío ('might, dominion').
