Parecido as an adjective means 'similar' and takes the preposition a: es parecido a su madre ('he looks like his mother'). As a noun, el parecido means 'the resemblance' — hay un gran parecido entre ellos. It is softer than igual ('identical') and more specific than similar, and is the go-to word when talking about family likeness.
