Usage Note

Ovación describes enthusiastic, prolonged applause. Una ovación en pie is a standing ovation. The verb ovacionar (to give an ovation to) is common in sports and arts journalism. Do not confuse with aplauso (a single round of applause) — ovación implies duration and intensity.
