Usage Note
Odio is the noun; the verb is odiar ('to hate'). The phrase tener odio a alguien or sentir odio por alguien expresses intense personal hatred. In online contexts discurso de odio (hate speech) is the standard term. Unlike the verb detestar (to detest, more formal), odio and odiar are used freely across registers.
