Objetar is a formal verb used to voice a counter-argument or objection, most at home in legal, parliamentary, or academic registers. The fixed phrase objetar conciencia is the standard way to express conscientious objection (objeción de conciencia); the person is an objetor de conciencia. In everyday conversation, poner objeciones or simply no estar de acuerdo is more natural.
