Nicho covers both the architectural recess (a nicho in a wall for a statue or an urn in a cemetery) and the modern marketing/ecology sense of a niche market or ecological niche. In cemeteries, nicho specifically refers to the individual burial cavity in a wall, as distinct from a ground tomb. The marketing sense (nicho de mercado) is a direct translation from English.
