Usage Note
Nacional is invariable for gender (el parque nacional, la selección nacional) but takes regular -es in the plural. As a noun it means 'a national' or 'a citizen': los nacionales refers to nationals of a country. La selección nacional is the standard shorthand for a country's national sports team.
