Usage Note
Mudo can describe a person who is physically unable to speak, or metaphorically someone who stays completely silent. The fixed phrase quedarse mudo (to be left speechless) is very common. In film vocabulary, cine mudo means silent cinema. As a noun, un mudo means a mute person.
