Usage Note

Muchacho is informal for a boy or young man; the feminine muchacha means girl. It is used across the Spanish-speaking world but has a slightly warmer, more colloquial tone than chico in Spain. In some Latin American countries it can extend to a young adult. The plural muchachos can refer informally to a mixed-gender group, much like 'guys' in English.

Examples

"El muchacho corrió por el parque."

The boy ran through the park.
