Usage Note

Mi (no accent) is the unstressed possessive determiner placed before a noun; the accented mí is the stressed personal pronoun ('me') used after prepositions: a mí me gusta. Mi is invariable for gender (mi perro, mi casa). The stressed possessive mío/mía is used after the noun or as a predicate: un amigo mío ('a friend of mine').
