Metáfora follows the standard literary definition: a direct comparison without como or cual (which would make it a símil). Stressing the correct syllable is important — the accent mark on the first a signals stress on the second syllable: meh-TAH-foh-rah. Metafórico and metafóricamente are the common derived adjective and adverb.
