Usage Note
Intimista describes art, literature, or cinema that focuses on private, interior emotional worlds rather than grand external events — una novela intimista ('an introspective novel'), un cine intimista ('intimate cinema'). The term is common in Spanish literary criticism. Like all -ista adjectives, it is invariable for gender: el estilo intimista / la narrativa intimista.
