Usage Note
Autora is the feminine form of autor ('author, creator'). Both are used in legal contexts too: la autora del delito ('the perpetrator of the crime'). In publishing and academia, explicitly using autora for women is now standard practice in Spanish-speaking countries. The related verb is autorizar ('to authorize') and noun autoría ('authorship').
