interventor

auditor; electoral supervisor

noun een-tehr-behn-TOHR Rare

Usage Note

Interventor has two common roles in Spain: an interventor de cuentas audits public or corporate finances, while an interventor de mesa electoral is an officially appointed poll watcher who monitors vote counting. The feminine form is interventora. In everyday rail travel, the word can also mean the conductor who checks tickets, though revisor is more common for that role.

Examples

"El interventor revisó las cuentas del ayuntamiento."

Natural Translation

The auditor reviewed the town hall's accounts.
