Inclemencia most commonly refers to harsh weather conditions and frequently appears in the plural: las inclemencias del tiempo ('the harsh elements'). It can also describe merciless or severe treatment of a person. The related adjective is inclemente (harsh, merciless). This is a formal register word; everyday speech more often uses el mal tiempo for bad weather.
