Usage Note
Humedad is feminine and the initial 'h' is always silent — oo-meh-DAHD. It covers both atmospheric humidity (humedad relativa) and moisture in a surface or material (humedad en la pared = damp on the wall). The adjective is húmedo/a. Distinguish from mojado (wet to the touch) — húmedo implies a pervasive moisture rather than a soaking.
Examples
"La humedad en el ambiente es muy alta hoy."
Natural Translation
The humidity in the air is very high today.
