Usage Note
Huelguista is a common-gender noun (el/la huelguista) referring to a person participating in a huelga ('strike'). Note that the h is silent and the initial sound is the 'w' of huelga. The related verb ir a la huelga means 'to go on strike'. In Spain and Latin America, huelga is the standard term; some regions also use paro.
