Usage Note

Habanero means 'of or from Havana' (La Habana), the Cuban capital. As a noun, el habanero or la habanera refers to a person from Havana; la habanera is also a famous dance and musical form of Cuban origin popularised in 19th-century Spain. Outside the Caribbean context, habanero is also the name of a very hot chilli pepper, widely used in Mexican and international cuisine.
