Usage Note

Africano is both adjective (continente africano) and noun (los africanos). Note that Africa is a vast and diverse continent; africano as a noun should be used carefully to avoid overgeneralisation. The feminine form is africana. Afroamericano is a distinct term for people of African descent in the Americas.
