Usage Note

Gritar covers the full range from a forceful shout to a scream of fear or pain. The noun grito means shout or cry. The phrase a gritos (shouting, screaming) is very common: hablan a gritos (they're talking at the tops of their voices). Gritar is a regular -ar verb with no stem changes.
