Usage Note
Goles is the plural of gol, the Spanish adaptation of the English 'goal' in football/soccer. It is used exclusively for the scoring sense — not for goalposts (portería) or life goals (metas/objetivos). Marcar goles (to score goals) is the standard collocation; meter un gol is equally common colloquially.
Examples
"El delantero marcó tres goles en el partido."
Natural Translation
The striker scored three goals in the match.
