Generalista describes a person, medium, or approach that covers a broad range of topics or disciplines rather than specialising — a médico generalista is a general practitioner, and a canal generalista is a general-audience TV channel. It contrasts with especialista. The word is invariable in gender: un médico generalista / una médica generalista.
