Usage Note

Fungicida can also function as an adjective (un tratamiento fungicida). Like other -cida words (insecticida, herbicida), it is masculine as a noun. Learners of agricultural or horticultural Spanish will encounter it frequently in discussions of crop protection; it distinguishes from bactericida (kills bacteria) and pesticida (general pesticide).
