funerario

funerary

adjective foo-neh-RAH-ryoh Rare

Origin: From Latin funerarius (relating to a funeral).

Also means

funeral (adj.)

Usage Note

Funerario describes things relating to funerals or the funeral industry: servicio funerario ('funeral service'), empresa funeraria ('funeral home/parlor'). The feminine form is funeraria, which as a noun means 'funeral home' (la funeraria — 'the funeral parlor'). Do not confuse with fúnebre ('funereal/mournful in atmosphere'), which is more literary.

Examples

"El servicio funerario se celebró al mediodía."

Natural Translation

The funeral service was held at noon.
