finalmente

finally

adverb fee-nahl-MEN-teh Common

Usage Note

Finalmente signals that something has happened after a wait or a series of events ('finally, at last'). It can also mean 'lastly' when listing points in a sequence. For 'at the end of a place or text', use al final instead. Finalmente is more formal and literary than por fin, which is the usual spoken equivalent for 'at last'.

Examples

"Finalmente llegaron al acuerdo."

Natural Translation

They finally reached an agreement.

Literal Translation

Finally they-arrived to-the agreement
