Feriado is the standard term for a public holiday in most of Latin America; in Spain the preferred term is festivo or día festivo. As an adjective, día feriado means 'holiday' or 'non-working day.' In Argentina, Uruguay, and Chile it is by far the most common word for a bank or public holiday.
