Usage Note
Fatalismo is the philosophical or attitudinal belief that events are fixed by fate and cannot be changed by human effort. In Spanish cultural discourse it is often discussed as a perceived trait in certain societies (el fatalismo mediterráneo). The adjective is fatalista (fatalistic), which functions as both adjective and noun (es un fatalista = he is a fatalist). Do not confuse with pesimismo (pessimism), which is about expecting bad outcomes rather than accepting inevitability.
Examples
"Su fatalismo le impedía buscar soluciones."
Natural Translation
His fatalism prevented him from looking for solutions.
