Usage Note

Extrañamente is formed from the adjective extraño ('strange') plus the adverbial suffix -mente. It appears often at the start of a sentence for emphasis: Extrañamente, nadie protestó ('Strangely, nobody objected'). Like all -mente adverbs, it is invariable and does not agree in gender or number with anything else in the sentence.
