Usage Note
Esquí is masculine and carries a written accent on the final í to mark the stress on the last syllable. It refers both to the piece of equipment (un par de esquís — a pair of skis) and to the sport (practicar el esquí). The plural esquís retains the accent. The verb is esquiar; a skier is esquiador/esquiadora.
