entrevista

interview

noun en-treh-BEES-tah Less Common

Origin: From entrevistar, from Latin inter (between) + videre (to see).

Usage Note

Entrevista covers both a job interview (entrevista de trabajo) and a journalistic interview. The verb is entrevistar (to interview) and entrevistarse con (to meet with, to have a meeting with). Unlike English, where 'interview' is almost exclusively professional, entrevista also appears in casual media contexts like celebrity interviews.

I have a job interview tomorrow.
