enamorar

to make fall in love

verb eh-nah-moh-RAHR Less Common

Origin: From en- + amor (love) + -ar, from Latin amor.

to charm

Usage Note

Enamorar in its base form means to make someone fall in love with you. The reflexive enamorarse de is far more common and means 'to fall in love with' — me enamoré de ella ('I fell in love with her'). The past participle enamorado/enamorada functions as an adjective meaning 'in love' and as a noun meaning 'sweetheart'.

Examples

"Se enamoró de ella desde el primer momento."

Natural Translation

He fell in love with her from the first moment.
