Usage Note

Empleador is the formal term for an employer — the person or organisation that hires and pays workers. Its counterpart is empleado ('employee'). In Latin American Spanish empleador is standard in labour law and official documents, though in Spain empresario is also widely used to mean 'employer' or 'business owner'. The feminine form is empleadora.
