Dirigir has a spelling change before a and o: dirijo, dirija (the g becomes j to preserve the /h/ sound). It covers directing a film (dirigir una película), managing a company (dirigir una empresa), and addressing speech to someone (dirigirse a alguien). The reflexive dirigirse a is the standard way to say 'to head towards' a place or 'to address' a person.
